| THE INDEPENDENT MAGAZINE FOR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS |
|
FLICKER | ABOUT US Flicker is currently an online magazine which showcases independent filmmakers and musicians as well as giving you the latest news, reviews and interviews with the big names and events. We aim to provide a platform for the talented artists of the future and to connect them with a wider audience. The magazine was the idea of Ashleigh Burnside and Sean Wilkie. While Ashleigh studied Psychology at Stirling University she has always been interested in design and art, the idea for a local magazine came to her while talking to a friend who had attempted something similar with a local business' magazine. Once she put the idea to her partner, he set about making the idea become a reality. Sean has a background in writing and film, running his own film production company for the last six years. The project was also financed in part by company partner Stephen Wilkie, who works mainly as an engineer in the oil industry but is also involved as a Producer with Quarantine Films. We plan to also publish a printed version of the magazine on a monthly basis. The magazine will be free and will be distributed to colleges, universtites, coffee shops, bars, live music venues, cinemas, stores and studios throughout Central Scotland, in fact we already have over 50 distribution venues lined up once the magazine goes to print. The magazine is primarily run by Sean Wilkie, who edits the magazine articles, hands out assignments and updates the website. Ashleigh Burnside handles the sales and also writes for the magazine and both Hannah McKee and Carolyn Jones act as sales and marketing consultants for the magazine. The content is provided by a team of contributors with varying levels of experience in the journalism industry. Some of these writers already write for well-known printed publications but like to help out when they can because they like the project and others are starting out and can benefit from getting their work published and the experience that brings. At Flicker we are always open to new and innovative ideas and welcome your thoughts. You can contact us at info@flickermagazine.co.uk. Thank you Sean Wilkie
